Community Hospital project targets patient comfort, dignity
Community Healthcare Foundation gives hospital $105,000 for project
TORRINGTON, Wyo. (Aug. 2, 2019) – Community Hospital will use a $105,000 gift from Community Healthcare Foundation to increase comfort for bariatric, or highly obese patients who need medical care.
Community Hospital Chief Executive Officer Zach Miller said, in ongoing efforts to make healthcare easier and life better for our community, hospital and Banner leaders identified renovation and construction projects that will help achieve this mission. This project, not possible without the support of the Community Healthcare Foundation, was identified as one that goes to the heart of respecting the dignity and comfort of all patients. It will also ensure we are able to care for everyone, regardless of body size, in the best way possible.
Chief Nursing Officer Ingrid Long said the issue arose through the hospital’s Community Health Needs Assessment. “We identified that we have residents who would require specialized equipment and facilities because of their size if they came to us for care,” she said. “This will help us accommodate everyone.”
Wheaton Kremke, president of the Community Healthcare Foundation, said the dollar amount of this award is larger than most of the foundation’s gifts, and this is a worthwhile cause.
“Society has seen changes that mean this type of room is needed more,” Kremke said. “We want to make sure all residents of Goshen County can receive health care close to home.”
Construction will begin late fall and be completed in 2020.
The Community Healthcare Foundation will host its 19th annual Comedy Night on Friday, Aug. 23. This year’s event will feature The Fun Pianos Show taking audience requests and performing improv throughout the night. The event still will offer the 21 table, cash key items, beer tasting and silent and live auctions.
Money raised will fund critical healthcare equipment needs and scholarships for Goshen County. Tickets are $40 per person for hors d’oeuvres, a beer mug, beer tasting and entertainment. For more information, call (970) 534- 7168.
