Seasonal Hour Change Begins at Fort Laramie National Historic Site
(Fort Laramie, WY) Beginning September 4, 2018 Fort Laramie National Historic Site’s Visitor Center will change to fall/winter season hours. It will be open from 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.; the park’s historic grounds will remain open from sunrise to sunset each day. The fall/winter seasonal hours of operation will continue through Memorial Day 2019.
Labor Day marks the end of a successful summer season at Fort Laramie National Historic Site for 2018. Highlights of the summer abound. This year’s activities began in late April with the 150th Anniversary of the Signing of the 1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie, and activities continued throughout the summer. The full commemoration period will conclude on November 6, when Red Cloud signed the Treaty back in 1868. As the summer season comes to a close, the Fort takes pride that visitors from around the world made life-long connections with the Fort’s natural and cultural resources.
Fort Laramie NHS thanks thinkWY|Wyoming Humanities for facilitating a grant in support of the Treaty Commemoration activities throughout the year. We also thank our local communities, neighbors, and visitors for your continuing support of Fort Laramie National Historic Site.
Admission to the park is always free, so bring the family. For more information, visit the park website at www.nps.gov/fola or call the park at 307-837-2221. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
