Showcase Showdown a big Success

Laramie, WY – On June 26 through 28 the College of Business building was flooded with over 320 4-H kids. They were competing in events of all kinds and attending workshops to learn even more useful skills.
“We loved the filmmaking workshop. It really got my son excited about making a movie and with the tips he learned I think he could successfully make one independently,” one chaperone and parent said.
Filmmaking was just one of the many workshops which ranged from beekeeping to fabric dying. Two outdoor trips were also taken to LaPrele Park and Curt Gowdy State park for fishing and hiking.
“The availability of workshops this year was great, the Curt Gowdy trip was a hit,” a volunteer staff member mentioned.
A majority of the participants also participated in basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and swimming at Half Acre Gym one night and enjoyed themselves.
The competitions were challenging but many kids look forward to improving for next year. The most important thing about showcase showdown is that the kids go home with some new friends and new knowledge.
