Annual “Old-Fashioned” Fourth of July at the Fort
(Fort Laramie, WY) On Wednesday July 4, 2018, Fort Laramie National Historic Site will be hosting its Annual “Old-Fashioned” Fourth of July celebration. For many years, Fort Laramie NHS has been a traditional part of Independence Day activities in southeast Wyoming. As in years past, the day will be packed with events that offer something for everyone. Activities begin at 9:30am and will continue throughout the day, ending at 5:30pm. For a list of scheduled events for the Fourth of July, visit the park website at www.nps.gov/fola or call 307-837-2221.
In addition to the traditional activities on the Fourth, you will have the opportunity to expand your horizons as Fort Laramie NHS presents The Hunter-Warrior of the Plains on July 4-5, 2018. The dynamic programs presented by noted Native American actor, writer, and historian Michael "Bad Hand" Terry are enjoyable for all ages and will open the minds of visitors to consider new perspectives of history, culture, and warrior traditions of the Northern Plains Tribes. Mr. Terry makes use of a traditional tipi, ‘household’ items, and weapons of the Plains People to visually illustrate his spellbinding presentations. Bad Hand will offer programs throughout both days from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
