“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” ~John Muir

Goshen County has abundant opportunities for those needing a nature escape. Rawhide Wildlife Habitat Management, located two miles south of Lingle and eight miles northwest of Torrington, is a prime example — with 812 beautiful acres, ideal for hiking and photography.

The setting along the North Platte River features wetlands, prairie grasses and cottonwood trees. The diversity of landscape provides habitat for a plethora of wildlife, including deer, rabbits, wild turkeys, ring-necked pheasants and ducks.

Rawhide is a particularly awesome location for bird watching.

Birders can observe 50 species of songbirds as well as owls, hawks and eagles.
