Massey wins Otero tournament

The Eastern Wyoming College Lancer golf team competed at the annual fall tournament hosted by Otero Junior College October 5-6.  Sophomore Trey Massey, Lander, WY, won the tournament with two-day scores of 68-68, 136.  The Lancers finished the tournament in second place by two strokes with a team total of 582.

“The guys felt like they left a lot of shots on the course which is tough to handle when we are in such a tight battle for first, second, and third,” shared Coach Zach Smith.  “The guys fought hard but at the end of the day we fell just short of the team title this week. Trey played incredibility well again this week to win his second tournament of the season.  We look forward to a strong finish to the fall season.”

Other Lancer team member scores were as follows:

Gonzalo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, freshman, Munguia, Spain – 73-75, 148, tied 7th

Kash Kaufman, freshman, Torrington, WY – 71-78, 149, tied 11th

Cameron Heath, freshman, Bolton, UK – 76-75, 151, tied 15th

George Elliott, freshman, Salisbury, UK – 77-76, 153, tied 19th
