Black Hills Energy who lives their mission of ‘every day, we want to improve life with energy’ is a new investor in Eastern Wyoming College’s Agriculture Technology Education Center (ATEC).

ATE will be the premier agriculture facility in the region, boasting 29,000 sq. ft., including wet and dry labs, and a greenhouse. The goals for the new facility include enhancing agriculture education and developing workforce. According to Tim Morgan, Supervisor of Gas Operations for eastern Wyoming “it’s exciting to partner with the college and lay the groundwork for their future endeavors.”  Mr. John Hansen, Director of Institutional Development for EWC further stated, “Black Hills Energy’s investment in ATEC is part of a larger belief in where we are heading as an institution.”

Dr. Monte Stokes, Director of EWC’s Agriculture program, noted “Our 70 Ag majors will greatly benefit from the investment of Black Hills Energy by enhancing the learning experiences while here. The donation is greatly appreciated.”

EWC is readying a capital campaign to close the funding gap and begin construction on ATEC. According to Todd Peterson, President of EWC’s Foundation “Black Hills Energy’s investment is testament to their belief in higher education and the impact ATEC will have on the region.” Black Hills Energy has been a strong supporter of EWC and most recently donated a natural gas fireplace that was raffled off with proceeds benefitting student clubs and ATEC.

EWC is thrilled with their enhanced partnership with Black Hills Energy not only because of dollars invested but also because of increased opportunities for our students. Black Hills Energy employs a considerable number of EWC graduates and by working together, EWC can meet the challenges of the changing workforce.
